Growth in China is rebounding fast - around 4.5% in Q1* - in line with the rest of Asia, and outstripping much of the developed world.
However, Asia is a region rich with idiosyncrasies - and diverse economies such as the 'Four Tigers' (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea) or Japan each hold unique opportunities for the total return approach.
During a receent webinar, we discussed two different investment strategies:
> Mandarin: a directional equity long/short strategy focusing on Greater China
> Lotus: a Pan-Asian equity event-driven & special situations strategy
Lan and Jon examined practical examples of how they implement their views in stocks, sectors, and themes.
As a multi-boutique manager we don't expect consensus - rather the discussion and differing viewpoints from which the most interesting investment views can arise.
